This is brilliant. And so skatole-free. I love that they put that in their pretentious kit. Sort of an insider jab in the ribs for spending 189 bucks on it. But this isn't just funny-- it's so insightful. The Van Gogh and Frank Lloyd Wright examples really hit home. We have to be careful not to pollute the things we love with too much extraneous expertise. I often use the quote by Duke Ellington, "If it sounds good, it is good."

Thank you Jimmy! I am now dedicating myself to being skatole-free in my writing. If not my life.

This was a wonderful article Craig. Laughed lots during my reading relating to trying to smell the right fruit essence. Look forward to sharing a bottle or two when together again… just not the one with the “ essence of shit.”

Next time we get together we can shoot the shit, but not drink it.

Loved this article. My rules of wine tasting, drink what you love, try new wines, and how much are you willing to spend to drink it again.

$25 is my sweet spot. Less and I'm often disappointed; more and I'm often disappointed.
