Why Eat the World?
And who am I to eat the world? I’m a former editor of the Washington Post travel section, now a freelance journalist covering travel, food, and drink. Lately I’ve written for Garden & Gun, Fodor’s, Frommer’s, Afar, Business Insider, the Post, and more. Over the years my work has appeared in GQ, Esquire, Life, and Entertainment Weekly, to name a few. I’m a third-degree foodie, a cocktail geek, veteran traveler, and recidivist blogger.
And why am I here to eat the world? Because there’s a lot of suspect fawning and breathless glowing in travel and food journalism. I promise Eat the World will include nothing but true tales, straight shots, and reality checks from the road, tables, and barstools all over. Learn more about my approach to this sort of journalism, and a certain wise Jamaican gentleman with very bad teeth.
Let’s eat the world together
You’ll hear from me every few weeks or so. Along the way I invite you to leave comments to elaborate, quarrel, verify, dispute, harangue, or — better yet — share some stories of your own.
Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy eating the world as much as I do. Now, mind if I take just a taste of what’s on your plate…?
